Where women, creativity, and the wild world come together and flourish

Hedgerow is not just another art membership.

She's a sanctuary for slow, soulful creativity, and antidote to the hustle and disconnection of modern life.

Where women practice the art of attention, develop joyful, sustainable creative rhythms that nourish and expand our lives.

Where you learn and practice and play, and form genuine relationships with wild beings we study, the natural world around you (and each other).

Where you practice connection, not perfection.

If You :

long for a creative rhythm that honours your nervous system, your body, your soul

believe art-making is a form of self-care, sacred ritual, and quiet rebellion

are ready to stop consuming and start becoming

are tired of being sold perfectionism and productivity, and would rather unfurl, root down deeply into the ground, and make art that makes you feel

want to learn, grow, and connect, without losing yourself in the noise

want to create with the wild world, not just about it. You want to go deeper, not wider

know there is a way to creatively deepen your life, you just don’t know how to get there…yet

Art-making, connecting to the wild, and embracing your own inner wisdom is available to you right now inside Hedgerow, wherever you are on this beautiful Earth.

Hedgerow is :

🌿A monthly journal of inspiration, empowerment, and wonder

🌿Weekly gatherings to create together

🌿A wildly vibrant community that supports and nourishes and inspires our wild hearts to ground down and unfurl

🌿And an incredible library of tutorials for all levels

Through seasonal rhythms of ecology and mythology, mindset work and mythic imagination, and lots of sketching, drawing and painting, Hedgerow invites you to honour your creativity as a practice of devotion, not perfection.

You will :

🌿Start making art and being creative in ways that feel meaningful, “mistakes” and frustrations and all!

🌿Grow your sketching and drawing skills, while strengthening your creative resilience and understanding how to work through (and practice letting go of) fear

🌿Recognise all the ways you are creative, and celebrate showing up to make with your hands, even if it is only for 15 minutes at a time

🌿Be constantly inspired and encouraged to practice

Through gentle reminders to honour your practice, inspiration to keep your creative juices flowing, and the support of our wild-hearted community, you will claim the title artist and know deep in your bones you are a part of this wild world, not apart from it.

HOW Hedgerow is different:

Our values are curiosity, compassion, courage, and connection.

This is not a content wheel you feel pressured to keep up with.

There is no ‘behind’ here.

If you have an interest in wildlife art, but know there is more to being creative than having a finished painting, you belong here.

We make art, yes, we are creative, yes, but we do more than that.

We get curious about how we can make our whole life more grounded and abundant.

We treat our creative journey with compassion. Mistakes and frustrations are learning - necessary and important.

We value process and practice and passion over product.

We keep going, even when it feels stretchy, because we know we are making beauty with our incredible human animal hands.

We embody a philosophy of empathy and connection - understanding our bodies may have limitations, that we may not feel confident, that we are introverted and may participate quietly - and that all of this is normal and beautiful.

Because the way you see the world is beautiful, and we want to see that through the way you make.

Hedgerow has opened up a whole new world of creativity for me

I already had poetry and music, but art was the missing bit for me. It has allowed me to discover aspects of myself that I didn't know about. It has been a journey of discovery not only of myself but more importantly of the Wildworld and the Wildkin around me. I don't spend hours a day doing art, but I have come so far doing 15 minutes a day or at a go. Anyone can do this. It is something so nurturing and joyous.

We wonder with three threads

Each a theme to support creativity through sketching, drawing, painting, writing, mixed media or collage, or wherever your creativity takes you!

Inside are invitations to return. Return to your creativity, to your connection with the wild world, and to the woman you are when you feel most rooted, curious, and alive.

These aren't lessons for perfection, they're for connection.

They're touchstones for presence, growth, and deep seeing.
Together, they form a rhythm of creative and compassionate living.

What you’ll experience

    • Weekly Live Gatherings

Show up just as you are in sessions scheduled for both UK/EU and North American time zones. Nothing performative, just presence. All sessions recorded for replay.

    • Monthly Inspiration Journal

A beautifully crafted companion that walks beside you for the whole month, your field guide to the season's themes, beings, and creative world. Inside you'll find colour stories drawn from your wild subjects, mythology and meaning, atmosphere and sensory inspiration, creative invitations across every medium, and a deep dive into that month’s theme. Something to return to again and again throughout the month, throughout the year, whenever you need a thread to follow or a mood to step into.

    • Tutorials inspired by our theme

  • Our year flows through a three-month creative ecology cycle, honouring both intensive study and necessary rest:

    • Wild Devotion Months (4 per year)

Deep ecology study of one wild being: who they are, how they live, why they matter. You receive curated reference libraries, and "inspiration invitations" where Natalie discusses the references, pulls out colours, finds shapes, and explores compositional possibilities. Explore wildlife in all their raw, overlooked, and astonishing beauty. This is where reverence and skill deepen together.

    • Wild Herstory Months (4 per year)

Mythic exploration connecting wild beings with divine feminine archetypes. Receive mythology PDFs, curated references for being + archetype, and compositional guidance for bringing woman + wild together. Reclaim your creative lineage through story and wild beings. These mythic threads strengthen our sense of belonging, meaning, and creativity as modern women.

    • Wild Hearth Months (4 per year)

Integration months honouring your capacity and creative seasons. Curated tutorial suggestions, curiosity invitations to help you weave relationship with where you are planted, and space to connect, work on local wildlife, or simply rest. Because sustainable creativity requires spaciousness and a deep sense of belonging.

  • Detailed Wildlife + Environment Tutorial (at the seasonal turning points)

A complete study from initial sketch and word-work through detailed realistic rendering, including Natalie's process of seeing, noticing, and translating the wild world to paper or canvas. Get granular with awe. This is where technique deepens and wonder multiplies.

    Book Club

We read books by women writers that inspire deeper creativity and wild connection, gathering to discuss what resonates and challenges us. Deepen your roots through story and shared wisdom.

    • A Vibrant, Supportive Community

A nourishing space to share your work, ask any questions (technical or philosophical), receive support, and witness others. We walk this path together. This is where you'll be seen and celebrated, exactly as you are.

    • Comprehensive Tutorial Library

Extensive collection of realistic wildlife drawing and painting tutorials (graphite, coloured pencil, watercolour) for those exploring realism. There are even FULL COURSES inside. Your chance to go even deeper, wherever your curiosity takes you. The sort of magic that lives in all good libraries.

    • Technique PDFs & Resources

Growing library of technical resources including values, shading, colour picking and more. Past Wild Herstory chapters available for exploration.

As we walk this path together, Hedgerow deepens even further, with gentle invitations into story, season, and always empowering the wild feminine voice within.

The Hedgerow Journal

Each month, a beautifully crafted Journal full of inspiration lands in your hands. Part field guide, part creative companion, part permission slip. And a collectable piece of your wild creative year.

Inside you'll find the colour stories of your month's wild beings, drawn directly from nature. The mythology, symbolism, and ancient wisdom woven through their world. Atmospheric wonderings and sensory invitations to draw from all month long. Creative prompts across every medium - drawing, painting, collage, journaling, and nature connection. And a comprehensive Seed Sowing (mindset work) section to carry you through.

This isn't a workbook to complete. It's a world to inhabit, something to return to again and again throughout the month, throughout the year, whenever you need a thread to follow or a mood to step into.

Each one unique. Each one yours to keep forever. Collectable. Inspirational. Forty plus pages of wonder, and a collectable record of the beings you came to know, the seasons you moved through, and the artist you are becoming.

The adage “the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The next best time is today.” is true for your creativity too.

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is just start. Let’s get you started together.

But What If…

What if I don’t have time?

As much as I would like to, I cannot create more time. You can create  time for your creativity by making it a priority. And in all seriousness, a few stolen minutes practicing on most days will have you growing your skills in ways that wishing I had time without practicing at all never will. You have time, my love, if you want it.

What if my art isn’t good enough?

Whether you are picking up a pencil to sketch for the very first time, or have been making art for years, your work is worthy, and beautiful. We all start somewhere, the important thing is to start. You are supported in Hedgerow no matter where you are on the creative path.

What if I am too old to start?

If you are aged between 1 and 150, you are not too old to start. I think we make the most powerful, intentional, authentic art when we are grown up enough to realise our creativity and connection to the wild world is personally important. And if you are over 150? Still not too old!

This is for you, wild one

gift yourself a year of creative growth

Where do you think your creativity could be a year from now?

Why not take advantage of the lower price for a yearly commitment, and gift yourself a year of creative growth.

Your desire to create is enough. Your love of wildlife is enough.
Your wild heart calling you to art is enough.

You are enough, exactly as you are.
In Hedgerow you can be you.

I have learned so much in my first year in Hedgerow

but maybe the very best is not to overwhelm myself, but diving into a challenge with calm curiosity - that opens a way to see the wild with your heart : more and more and more deeply....

~ Judith S

⬅️ (and let’s celebrate Judith’s beautiful honourings!)

Hedgerow is more than art-making - it's coming home to your creative self.

Hi, I’m Natalie

I am here to help you find your way to your own
wild art (and wild heart).

I spend my days painting and drawing the wild,  thinking about the wild, writing about the wild, and encouraging others to do the same.

This is where my wild heart had been telling me for years I needed to be, and now I get to help you find your own way to that place too.

I have been teaching art classes for nearly a decade, and I know creating is deeper than knowing art fundamentals. This is why I talk about the joys and challenges of being a creative, and celebrate the different ways that can look for each of us. To normalise fears and frustrations as a part of the creative journey, but to empower with mindset shifts to help creatives move forward with curiosity, compassion and courage.

And to help foster a deep and meaningful connection to wildlife and the wild world we are a part of (not apart from).

Because this is how I found the way back to ME.

By honouring wildlife and the wild, I remembered I could honour myself,
my own animal body, heart, and mind, too.
And I found connection that I did not consciously realise
I had been missing my whole life.

I can promise you it is the one best things I have done to improve my art, my personal mindset

I have been a member since August 2024 and I can promise you it is the one best things I have done to improve my art, my personal mindset, and my appreciation of all of the wonderful creatures we share this world with. Natalie is supportive and always present to help work out any problems you might be having with a particular piece. While giving critiques she reviews the work and gives thoughtful and helpful comments - always in a kind and generous way. Hedgerow has opened my mind and heart to art and the world! Please come join us - we are waiting with open arms to welcome you in.
~ Sherie

(and let’s celebrate Sherie’s gorgeous honourings) ➡️

Growing our impact together

As we grow our community together, we will grow our tangible impact on caring for our wild kin.

10% of your Hedgerow membership payments will be going to Raptor Refuge, a registered wildlife rehabilitation organisation committed to securing the futures of Tasmania’s precious raptors.

Raptor Refuge’s mission is to reduce human impacts through rehabilitating injured, sick or orphaned raptors, educating the public, and supporting habitat conservation.

They are doing the big work, and I am proud that we get to give them a bit of a hand along the way.

This is Pepper, the Tasmanian Masked Owl. Our eye to eye connection was profound, to say the least!

Why is Hedgerow
A women’s space?

Hedgerow is a homecoming for creative women, a sanctuary rooted in softness,
courage, and the deep remembering of our wild kinship.

This space is deliberately crafted for women because so many of us have been taught to silence our creativity, to hurry instead of observe, to disconnect rather than root down. Here, we reclaim that connection, to art, to nature, and to ourselves, in the company of others who understand.

This isn’t about exclusion. It’s about creating a space of ease and resonance.
Where we can grow without shrinking.
Create without comparison.
Belong, without explaining why.

One last note from me to you

If something stirred in you as you read all this, a remembering, a yearning,
an, oh, yes… this is your invitation to follow it.
We don’t do pressure here. Only possibility.
Your sketchbook, your path, your pace.
We will walk it together.
The wild is waiting. And we’re waiting to welcome you.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • This creative sanctuary is for women only, because we are building a safe space that allows us to discuss all the full bodied experiences of being a creative. Being on different journeys of wellness, ability, relationship, and bodily empowerment greatly affect the self compassion we can show ourselves, especially towards our creativity. This is a community that celebrates you for who you are, and where you are right at this moment, without judgement.

  • It is for everyone! The content will be accessible for all levels, from beginner on, and will help you move forward on your path from right where you are right now

  • Not everyone uses Facebook anymore, and it can be a noisy and intrusive place. Our community is in an app called Circle which is available to use on desktop/laptop, and on both Android and Apple devices. It is private and gentle and easy to navigate, and I think you will love it!

    .

  • You take the content at the pace of you! That sounds like a cop out, but I also want to encourage you to show up for your creative practice whenever you can - even if it is just 10 to 15 minutes a day. It all adds up! (And hey, 10 minutes a day adds up to 4 hours a month anyway!). Choose what works for you now - what you are inspired by, rather than trying to do it all. Truly, please be inspired by the content at the pace of you :)

  • Absolutely! Anything I run live will be recorded for you to be able to watch at a time that suits you. We are very much an international community here, and while I will move the live workshop times around to try and give access to everyone at different times, I know that being based in Australia makes that particularly hard. Plus I know not everyone is confident enough to get on a zoom either - I will always make sure you have access to everything

  • That's absolutely welcome! While I share my practice through realistic drawing and painting, Hedgerow celebrates ALL forms of creativity rooted in wildlife and the wild world. The ecology studies, mythology explorations, and mindset work serve any creative medium. Members work in collage, writing, mixed media, abstract art, sculpture, fibre arts, and more. The invitations are just that, invitations. You're encouraged to respond in whatever way feels true to your creative voice. We're here for connection and relationship with wild beings, not copying a particular style.

  • The Wild Sketchbook is an intensive, contained experience that covers sooo much information. That is why when you pay for it once, you get to take it over and over again when I run it live. It contains everything you need to know to supercharge your creative practice in a compassionate and curious way, and covers six deep mindset and self-care concepts, has huge workbooks, and covers five different drawing and painting mediums. Hedgerow is much slower paced, though just as gentle-human-paced-focused and supportive as The Wild Sketchbook.

I think of Hedgerow as a place to take respite in, to breathe deeply, and move slowly and intentionally. It is the perfect space to continue your journey between live sessions of The Wild Sketchbook, or indeed help you get to a place where you know that the next level of creative encouragement and support is where you want to be next time it is open. Hedgerow is where we get to be connected all year round, and where I can continue to support your growth and wonderful human beingness. They work together symbiotically, but also independently - neither is a prerequisite for the other.

  • Only in so far as it is wildlife and sketchbook focused. In Hedgerow we dive deeper and slower into sketching and the mindset work around being a curious, compassionate creative. There is also the community aspect, and live workshops, which differ from DTW

  • Money can be hard, I know. And this is a question only you can answer. Please, never go into debt for any art course or community. But I also want you to decide, like finding time to practice, if accountability and inspiration to practice is important to you. At the monthly price, Hedgerow works out to $8.50 a week (less for yearly). If that is affordable to you right now, then give yourself the gift of learning, practicing, and flourishing.

  • You can cancel your membership at any time via your account settings, and you will have access to the content until the date of your next scheduled payment (monthly or yearly). I don’t offer refunds because of the digital nature of the membership and that you have access to everything right away. But I would never want you to be unhappy - so if in the first 7 days after you subscribe you feel Hedgerow is not for you, send me an email and we will work out how best to move forward together. If your financial or life circumstances change, please also email me and we can talk about options.

From Within Hedgerow

A poem written by one of our members, inspired by her time inside, Aurora Stone

The Hedgerow
The wild liminal space,
the place to see
between the worlds,
look into the eyes
of our wild kin
and see ourselves
reflected
in their eyes,
feel our hearts
beat
in rhythms of theirs,
hear our voices
echoed
in their songs and calls.

The wild liminal space
the place to perceive
and explore
reality more profoundly
where the tamed and untamed meet
at intersection between
this world
and any other you can
feel, perceive, or dare
to imagine.

At the wild liminal space,
ride the hedge
to new insights, bring them back
for yourself and others,
feed on the rich
wild fruits of creative endeavour,
draw in shades of grey,
in the pigments of everything,
put brush to colours
mediated by water, acrylic, oil,
raise your hand and engage
with paper and canvas,
and in so doing partake
the wild, imaginal medicine
to heal tortured the soul,
to mend the fragmented spirit,
to repair the aching body
of the self and the world.
