For women practicing the art of creative attention,
with wild beings as teachers.
You’ve always been a wild woman.
A lover of nature. In awe of the natural world around you.
One with the animals… most at peace with bare Earth under your feet (and the whispers of trees on your cheeks).
After decades of putting others first, careers, family, the expectations of society, you find yourself a little lost:
Disconnected from the untamed parts of yourself, craving making with your own hands and heart, craving a relationship with the wild world.
It is time to make with your own hands again - and step into your wildly creative life.
Come home to Hedgerow and find your(wild)self.
Make art the way
nature grows
Hedgerow is where you practice really seeing with curiosity, making marks with compassion, not perfection…while getting back in touch with your wild side and the beauty of the world around you.
(And no: you don’t need to be “an artist” to fall in love with Hedgerow…and fall back in love with creating again).
Hedgerow is your reprieve, your quiet space - from the busyness, expectations, and bustle of life - from everything else you need to ‘be’ and ‘do’ in your life.
Whether you've had a creative practice for years or never begun, whether you have whole afternoons or fifteen stolen minutes - even a small and slow creative practice is delicious.
Inside Hedgerow we practice together, wherever you are on this beautiful Earth.
Connect to the wild world while making with your hands.
The practice
“I can't believe we're lucky enough to get a new journal every month. . .
I look forward to it like a little kid!”
I love the journals. I love coming back to them time and again when I’m relaxing or when I’m feeling lost and need some guidance.
Each journal is so full of information and inspiration that I can hardly believe we’re lucky enough to get one every month.
I’ve actually been looking forward to it like a little kid these past few days, and I just find the whole aesthetic behind it so beautiful—it’s soothing to look at the pages.

✨Hedgerow has opened up a whole new world of creativity for me ✨
I already had poetry and music, but art was the missing bit for me. It has allowed me to discover aspects of myself that I didn't know about. It has been a journey of discovery not only of myself but more importantly of the Wildworld and the Wildkin around me. I don't spend hours a day doing art, but I have come so far doing 15 minutes a day or at a go. Anyone can do this. It is something so nurturing and joyous.
~ Aurora
(and let’s celebrate Aurora’s beautiful art ) ➡️
This is what unfurls
Learn to draw anything you see, from scratch -
then bring it to whatever medium is yours.
No more waiting on shared outlines or colour lists. You'll understand the fundamentals in your own hands, and draw from any photo, any moment outdoors.
And as you draw, come to truly know your wild subjects -
their stories, their ecology, the meaning we've carried with them for millennia.
The journal walks beside you all month: the deeper knowing you were after, and ways to engage that move beyond the pencil.
Until what you're building isn't a hobby you do, but a wildly creative life -
where seeing the wild, and making with your hands, becomes a way of being.
Not a surface-level pastime. A whole way of moving through the world, rooted and awake.
Hedgerow is a holistic practice
Wonder and wander with three alternating threads.
And then, because all things in life & nature are seasonal, we repeat the cycle every 3 months with all new wild beings, new stories, and new ways to connect to where you are planted.
Your time inside Hedgerow is the perfect blend of spaciousness and structure.
Even if you only have 15 minutes at a time, this is your way of getting grounded and connected.
You always have creative inspiration without feeling like you are caged in. Hedgerow grows and expands with you - honouring your season of life, and what your (wild) creativity is looking for.
You will:
🌿 Make with your hands, regularly and meaningfully - even if it's only fifteen minutes at a time, "mistakes" and frustrations and all
🌿 Grow your sketching and drawing skills while building the creative resilience to work through fear, and practice letting it go
🌿 Come to truly know your wild kin - the beings outside your door and the ones from distant lands - and feel your connection to the wild world deepen with every page
🌿 Claim the title artist no matter what it is you make, and know, deep in your bones, that you are a part of this wild world - not apart from it
🌿 Step into your most wildly creative life - held by rhythm, inspiration, and a circle of wild-hearted women walking beside you
What you’ll experience
Inside are invitations to return. Return to your creativity, to your connection with the wild world, and to the woman you are when you feel most rooted, curious, and alive.
These aren't lessons for perfection, they're for connection.
They're touchstones for presence, growth, and deep seeing.
Together, they form a rhythm of creative and compassionate living.

Our year moves through a three-month Creative Ecology cycle — one thread each month, returning and deepening with the seasons.
Wild Home Months (4 per year)
The wild right outside your door. Curiosity invitations to weave relationship with where you are planted — and your wild home might be a windowsill, a city park, birds on a power line. These are also our integration months: space to work on local wildlife, follow what calls you in the library, or simply rest. Because sustainable creativity needs spaciousness, and a deep sense of belonging.Wild Kinship Months (4 per year)
Deep ecology study of wild kin near and far — who they are, how they live, why they matter. You receive curated reference libraries and inspiration invitations, where Natalie explores the references with you: pulling out colours, finding shapes, opening compositional possibilities. This is where reverence and skill deepen together.Wild Herstory Months (4 per year)
Mythic exploration connecting wild beings with the divine feminine. Mythology chapters, curated references for being and archetype, and guidance for bringing woman and wild together on the page. Reclaim your creative lineage through story — the threads that strengthen our belonging, meaning, and imagination as modern women.

Seasonal Celebrations (solstices and equinoxes)
Four times a year, as the wheel turns, we gather in creative celebration. Over a few days to a week, you'll receive prompts to respond to in your own way — in your sketchbook, in words, in whatever medium calls — and we share our honourings together in the community. Marking the turning points the way our foremothers did: with attention, with making, with each other. And because we are scattered across this beautiful Earth, every turning holds two seasons at once — your midwinter is a sister's midsummer, and both belong on our pages. -
A Vibrant, Supportive Community
A nourishing space to share your work, ask any question - technical or philosophical - and witness one another. This is where you'll be seen and celebrated, exactly as you are.The Tutorial Library
And beneath it all, the library: an extensive collection of realistic wildlife drawing and painting tutorials in graphite, coloured pencil, and watercolour, techniques and resources, with FULL COURSES inside. Not a curriculum to keep up with. A deep root system to draw on whenever your practice asks for more skill.
As we walk this path together, Hedgerow deepens even further, with gentle invitations into story, season, and always empowering the wild feminine voice within.
A peek inside your monthly Hedgerow Journal
Each month, a beautifully crafted digital Journal full of inspiration lands in your hands. Part field guide, part creative companion, part permission slip.
And a collectable piece of your wild creative year.
Inside you'll find:
colour stories of your month's wild beings, drawn directly from nature.
mythology, symbolism, and ancient wisdom that describes the relationships we have held with wildlife for millennia.
sensory invitations to draw from all month long.
creative prompts across every medium - drawing, painting, collage, journaling, and nature connection.
comprehensive self awareness and inner work section to carry you through all the big feelings that come up when we make with our hands (and hearts).
and so much more.
This isn't a workbook to complete.
It's a world to inhabit, something to return to again and again throughout the month, throughout the year, whenever you need a thread to follow or a mood to step into.
Each one unique. Each one yours to keep forever. Collectable. Inspirational. Seventy plus pages of wonder, and a collectable record of the beings you came to know, the seasons you moved through, and the artist you are becoming.
HOW Hedgerow is different:
Our values are curiosity, compassion, courage, connection, and consciousness.
This is not a content wheel you feel pressured to keep up with.
There is no ‘behind’ here.
If you have an interest in wildlife art, but know there is more to being creative than having a finished painting, you belong here.
We make art, yes, we are creative, yes, but we do more than that.
We get curious about how we can make our whole life more grounded and abundant.
We treat our creative journey with compassion. Mistakes and frustrations are learning - necessary and important.
We value process and practice and passion over product.
We keep going, even when it feels stretchy, because we know we are making beauty with our incredible human animal hands.
We embody a philosophy of empathy and connection - understanding our bodies may have limitations, that we may not feel confident, that we are introverted and may participate quietly - and that all of this is normal and beautiful.
Because the way you see the world is beautiful, and we want to see that through the way you make.
If you are just starting . . .
There is a beautifully supportive beginner class called
Wild Beginnings to walk you through everything that happens when you pick up a pencil.
All those complicated birds? They are just shapes, my love.
You will practice seeing shapes, then drawing them, and then maybe even adding some detail.
Everyone starts here - even Da Vinci. And we do it with lots of loving kindness, wonder, and curiosity.
If you are coming back to art . . .
There are so many goodies in the library just waiting to be chosen by your wild hands - pick and choose what calls to you.
Coloured pencil, graphite, watercolour, mammals, birds and more - each project is shared with you in real time.
Take what you need from the videos, and be inspired to make the art that only you can make!

✨ I have learned so much in my first year in Hedgerow ✨
but maybe the very best is not to overwhelm myself, but diving into a challenge with calm curiosity - that opens a way to see the wild with your heart : more and more and more deeply....
~ Judith S
⬅️ (and let’s celebrate Judith’s beautiful honourings!)
A while ago, after a solo exhibition, I found myself burnt out and strangely disconnected from the work I loved.
I didn't need more technique - I needed to touch real things. To ground myself in my actual place, weave my observations together with the words and beings that move me, and create with my whole body, not just my mind.
That practice became Creative Ecology, and it is the only way I fill my own sketchbooks now.
Hedgerow is where I get to walk it with you.
Hi, I’m Natalie
I am here to help you find your way to your own
wild art (and wild heart).
I have been teaching art for nearly a decade, and I know creating is deeper than knowing the fundamentals. That's why we talk about the joys and the challenges of a creative life here - normalising the fears and frustrations, and meeting them with curiosity, compassion, and courage.
And to help foster a deep and meaningful connection to wildlife and the wild world we are a part of (not apart from).
Because this is how I found the way back to ME.
By honouring wildlife and the wild, I remembered I could honour myself,
my own animal body, heart, and mind, too.
And I found connection that I did not consciously realise
I had been missing my whole life.
But What If…
What if I don’t have time?
As much as I would like to, I cannot magic-up more time. You can create time for your creativity by making it a priority.
And in all seriousness, a few stolen minutes practicing on most days will have you growing your skills in ways that wishing I had time without practicing at all never will.
If you can find 15 minutes, you have time, my love.
What if my art isn’t good enough?
Whether you are picking up a pencil to sketch for the very first time, or have been making art for years, your work is worthy, and beautiful.
We all start somewhere, the important thing is to start.
You are supported in Hedgerow no matter where you are on the creative path.
What if I am too old to start?
If you are aged between 1 and 150, you are not too old to start.
I think we make the most powerful, intentional, authentic art when we are grown up enough to realise our creativity and connection to the wild world is personally important.
And if you are over 150? Still not too old!
✨I can promise you it is the one best things I have done to improve my art, my personal mindset ✨
I have been a member since August 2024 and I can promise you it is the one best things I have done to improve my art, my personal mindset, and my appreciation of all of the wonderful creatures we share this world with. Natalie is supportive and always present to help work out any problems you might be having with a particular piece. While giving critiques she reviews the work and gives thoughtful and helpful comments - always in a kind and generous way. Hedgerow has opened my mind and heart to art and the world! Please come join us - we are waiting with open arms to welcome you in.

Growing our impact together
As we grow our community together, we will grow our tangible impact on caring for our wild kin.
10% of your Hedgerow membership payments will be going to Raptor Refuge, a registered wildlife rehabilitation organisation committed to securing the futures of Tasmania’s precious raptors.
Raptor Refuge’s mission is to reduce human impacts through rehabilitating injured, sick or orphaned raptors, educating the public, and supporting habitat conservation.
They are doing the big work, and I am proud that we get to give them a bit of a hand along the way.
This is Pepper, the Tasmanian Masked Owl. Our eye to eye connection was profound, to say the least!
✺ Frequently asked questions ✺
-
This creative sanctuary is for women only, because we are building a safe space that allows us to discuss all the full bodied experiences of being a creative. Being on different journeys of wellness, ability, relationship, and bodily empowerment greatly affect the self compassion we can show ourselves, especially towards our creativity. This is a community that celebrates you for who you are, and where you are right at this moment, without judgement.
-
It is for everyone! The content will be accessible for all levels, from beginner on, and will help you move forward on your path from right where you are right now
-
Not everyone uses Facebook anymore, and it can be a noisy and intrusive place. Our community is in an app called Circle which is available to use on desktop/laptop, and on both Android and Apple devices. It is private and gentle and easy to navigate, and I think you will love it!
.
-
You take the content at the pace of you! That sounds like a cop out, but I also want to encourage you to show up for your creative practice whenever you can - even if it is just 10 to 15 minutes a day. It all adds up! (And hey, 10 minutes a day adds up to 4 hours a month anyway!). Choose what works for you now - what you are inspired by, rather than trying to do it all. Truly, please be inspired by the content at the pace of you :)
-
Absolutely! Anything I run live will be recorded for you to be able to watch at a time that suits you. We are very much an international community here, and while I will move the live workshop times around to try and give access to everyone at different times, I know that being based in Australia makes that particularly hard. Plus I know not everyone is confident enough to get on a zoom either - I will always make sure you have access to everything
-
That's absolutely welcome! While I share my practice through realistic drawing and painting, Hedgerow celebrates ALL forms of creativity rooted in wildlife and the wild world. The ecology studies, mythology explorations, and mindset work serve any creative medium. Members work in collage, writing, mixed media, abstract art, sculpture, fibre arts, and more. The invitations are just that, invitations. You're encouraged to respond in whatever way feels true to your creative voice. We're here for connection and relationship with wild beings, not copying a particular style.
-
Your wild world exists wherever you are. A single houseplant, light moving through a window, birds on a power line, a bunch of flowers delivered to your door — wonder doesn't require wilderness (just your own inner wildness). Hedgerow members create from city apartments, suburban gardens, and country acres alike, and the practice meets you exactly where you are planted.
-
No — and that's the heart of it. Hedgerow is a Creative Ecology practice: an ongoing rhythm of noticing, making, and connecting with the wild world, walked slowly and seasonally with a circle of wonderful women. There is a deep tutorial library inside — realistic wildlife drawing and painting in graphite, coloured pencil, and watercolour, with full courses included — so whenever your practice asks for more skill, the teaching is there. But you're not joining a curriculum. You're joining a way of creating, and a community to create alongside.
-
Only in that both are wildlife and sketchbook focused! Drawn to Wild is a self-paced, year-long tutorial course — one guided sketch each week, building real skills step by step. If what you're truly after is structured technique at your own pace, DTW may actually serve you better, and I'd genuinely encourage you to start there. Hedgerow is something different: the ongoing practice, the seasonal rhythm, the live Gatherings, and the company of women walking the path with you. Many members do both — DTW for the skill-building spine, Hedgerow for the life around it.
-
Money can be hard, I know. And this is a question only you can answer. Please, never go into debt for any art course or community. But I also want you to decide, like finding time to practice, if accountability and inspiration to practice is important to you. At the monthly price, Hedgerow works out to $8.50 a week (less for yearly). If that is affordable to you right now, then give yourself the gift of learning, practicing, and flourishing.
-
You can cancel your membership at any time via your account settings, and you will have access to the content until the date of your next scheduled payment (monthly or yearly). I don’t offer refunds because of the digital nature of the membership and that you have access to everything right away. But I would never want you to be unhappy - so if in the first 7 days after you subscribe you feel Hedgerow is not for you, send me an email and we will work out how best to move forward together. If your financial or life circumstances change, please also email me and we can talk about options.
One last note from me to you
If something stirred in you as you read all this, a remembering, a yearning,
an, oh, yes… this is your invitation to follow it.
We don’t do pressure here. Only possibility.
Your sketchbook, your path, your pace.
We will walk it together.
The wild is waiting. Welcome to your wildly creative life.
