ABOUT THIS PIECE

Pygmy owls of all species (and there is some 29) seem to contain the same amount of fierceness and attitude as their larger cousins, all wrapped in a tiny package. Perhaps it is the shape of their brow that adds to that supposition, but I think their stance and gaze, and well-armed toes supports the same.

The name of this piece was inspired by the poetry of Mary Oliver, who wrote many words about owls, their at once mysterious and wholly grounded nature, and connection to all facets of the web of life.
