Tasmanian Masked Owl

$1,200.00

(Tyto novaehollandiae subsp. castanops)

At twilight and in the dark, and near dawn.

Have you felt connection with a creature so tangible, and yet not physical? You saw them in film, or photo, or read of them in poetry or prose, but you did not touch them, or feel their soft breath on your skin - yet they were no less real to you, their existence absolute. That was my experience in the creation of this beautiful creature.

  • 15 x 22 in (38 x 56 cm)

  • Professional Coloured Pencil

  • Fabriano Artisico 100% Cotton Hot Pressed Watercolour Paper 640gsm

ABOUT THIS PIECE

The Tasmanian Masked Owl is one of the largest species of owls, and though from the barn owl family, much larger and more powerful than their more common kin. Found only in Tasmania, the island state of Australia of astounding beauty, these incredible creatures are endangered.

The name of this piece was inspired by the poetry of Mary Oliver, who wrote many words about owls, their at once mysterious and wholly grounded nature, and connection to all facets of the web of life.

I am honoured to share this elegant piece with you to frame behind glass and hang in a special place in your home. I hope it inspires heartfelt connection and compassion each time you pass by.

Please do not touch the original artwork with bare hands, you may inadvertently transfer oils from your skin that will mark the artwork.

SHIPPING INFORMATION

Your artwork will ship from Australia and shipping time varies. Unless specifically stated otherwise, your piece will leave my studio within a few days, via Australia Post (and then their international partners). Shipping in Australia and to New Zealand usually arrives within a week. International packages are a bit outside of my control. If you have not received your order after 6 weeks, please get in touch.

Border fees, duties, and handling fees may be charged by other countries, and are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Tracking is also quite unreliable with international shipments. You will receive tracking information so you can follow your piece (as best they update it!) as it flies across oceans and lands far and wide!. If you would prefer a courier, local pick up, or other shipping method, please get in touch.

WHITE-GLOVE PACKAGING

Your original artworks are sent in protective packaging designed to keep them safe and damage-free.

After opening your package and having your heart filled with delight, if you are called to, please share your thoughts and photos of where you hang your artwork - I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram, or email me directly.
